On june 24,2022, The supreme Court sparked a ferocious reaction across the united states with their decision to overturn the almost 50 years of federal protection in the right to able to have or have access to abortion procedures. With these turn of events, it is restricted laws that can turn to women conducting in unsafe abortions. Roe v. wade was putin place to protect woman’s constitutional right of privacy and not be criminalized in the act of taking part in abortion procedure. “The court held that a set of Texas statutes criminalizing abortionin most instances violated a woman’s constitutional right of privacy (Justice Harry A. Black mun 1970-94.”
Roe v.wade was and is a longterm battle that began in 1970 with the case of Norma Mc Corvey. The supreme court held their opposition to the plaintiffs absolute right to terminate the pregnancy in whatever methods or in time in which the plaintiff no longer wanted to carry to term. This ignited a ongoing battle with federal assertion and the ongoing idea of fetus viability at a certain point within pregnancy,” With regard to the fetus, the court located that point at “capability of meaningful life outside the mother’s womb,” viability, which occurs at about 24 weeks of pregnancy (Britannica’s editors, 2022).”
The existing restrictions of the overturn of Roe V. wade lead to unsafe abortions and put women’s health at risk. A Safe abortion is conducted with appropriate methods that keep patient unharmed during procedure. A unsafe abortion is persons that lack the important skills and equipment or medical practice that can be a harmful procedure. The overturn of roe.v wade has many women go to these extremes in the termination of a pregnancy. If not physical removal of pregnancy, medical drug use to conduct abortion; meaning the use of drugs such as mifepristone and misoprostol used to assit women in the termination of pregnancy.” Evidence from several countries shows that women living in poverty and in rural regions are more likely than their better-off and more urban counterparts to develop complications from unsafe abortion – but less likely to recieve treatment (Sedgh, mason and Singh, 2022).”
The overturn of roe v.wade many people from different backgrounds, such as scientist, religious leaders and authors shared a Unanimous understanding that abortion rights should be upheld.” The science clearly shows that abortion is incredibly common, and it is important to women living full lives,” says Diana Greene, (researcher of reproductive health) ( Amy Maxmen, 2021).”
The overturn of Roe V. Wade has influenced an ongoing public conversation between women’s health and the justice System. Many physicians rather women to be able to conduct safe abortions under the care of professionals with the proper skill set. Although there are other alternatives on how to terminate apregnancy other than abortion. Such as medical drugs. Not many women have access to such necessities with the overturn of Roe V.Wade. The federal government nor any form of government shouldn’t intervene in the health of women and their choice.
