General Analysis
What genre conventions comprise scientific narrative (that you noticed)?

What genre conventions comprise scientific journal articles? (that you noticed)
(what aspects make the genre “what it is?”)

The genre convention that comprises scientific journal articles is informative, research and
academic. With these aspects It’s content information being given to the audience, such as
numerical data and evidence conducted based on research. I noticed that data is common to
prove research and claim.

Do these texts work well together to effectively convey the topic/ issue? if yes, how, if no, why
not?

These texts work well together to effectively convey the topics shown by going into depth on
what experience and or facts presented. In the personal narrative, it was from the point of view
of a woman who is the daughter of a soldier, when speaking on a personal story the message
can be conveyed and understood better by the audience. The informational article gives data
and evidence to provide the reason behind their words. But the informative narrative is more
dense with information and character.

Do these texts work well independently to effectively convey the topic/issue? if yes, how, if no,
why not?

The text does work well independently together because it is for a targeted audience and serves
a purpose for different causes. It conveys the topics clearly while keeping it simple enough for
the audience to understand. In my opinion the scientific journal is for a more academic Research
like article.

What is the purpose of each document? (please do not be broad with such answers as “to
inform readers about palliative care” for example)

The informative article was to inform the reader on diseases that are more common in certain
ethnic groups than others. And the responsibilities about proper care. The personal narrative article is to connect with the audience in a more personal and emotional way that builds trust.
Which will make the audience want to return for more information. It spoke about the things the
narrator had to deal with in childhood briefly and how they were treated differently.

Who are the audiences for each document? (please, do not be broad with such answers as
“anyone who wants to know about palliative care,” for example)

The audience for the informative article is people who have knowledge on the topic or work in
the field or may have an interest in the topic. You wouldn{t give this to a regular person to read,
especially with th language it uses in the article. It’s dense and wordy. The personal narrative
targets an audience that can relate to having a family that served for the country or a country or
a more traditional family.

Do you think these documents meet the needs of its audiences? explain your answer

These documents need to provide information, facts and narrative to the audience. These
documents meet the needs based on what audience you’re trying to reach. For instance if you’re
trying to reach an audience that’s knowledgeable about science and or work in a scientific fied
you will do a scientific journal article.

What is the level of readability of the scientific journal article?

While reading the scientific journal article it was not very readable. While reading it I kept
skipping sentences, trying to cut the reading time short. Within the scientific journal article it
didn’t have a high level of readability, it lacked personal connection and a narrative format that
can grab the reader’s attention. The article was quite uninteresting although it did share
informative facts.
